Face it, world - rock & roll will never die. Its elements are so vast and layered that it has and will continue to develop respective variants quite possibly to the end of time. Contemporary and future acts, cue the gratitude… now. Seriously though, the question of the day seems to be “what would we ever do without rock?”, and we hope to never be given an answer to that question.

With all that said, we’re totally digging Throwing Seven’s debut, Hope Forgets To Breathe. The SoCal-based hardcore/alternative rock band is into high-powered guitar-heavy instrumentals as much as they are into eyeballs-deep emotional undertones. While the pairing of the two makes for themes that might be seen as too melodramatic’ for a debut album, this is nothing new for the band itself. They’ve been incorporating the broad and at times undefinable spectrum of emotion in their sound for the last couple of years - waves of energy supporting anger, despair or sadness, residing under an umbrella of extreme wonderment. We don’t know whether we want to jump up and down or take a nap (or jump up and down then take a nap).

The album itself is only eight tracks long and still manages to feed us inch-by-inch through the wringer. Add that lead vocalist Jude’s voice tempers that of Bad Religion front man Greg Graffin’s and you’ve got an album that could validate the phrase “soundtrack of life” to many listeners.

Throwing Seven seems to be among the few bands these days that brings what they have to the table, seemingly with neither sound nor style concocted for them. How could we tell? Well we first noticed the lack of guy-liner… and pretty much that’s all we needed to know. They have provided a heartfelt album of the hardcore post-punk sort that gives neither a positive nor negative message, just one that says that there is in fact a way to wear your heart on your sleeve without leaving others recoiling by the wayside.

Hope Forgets to Breathe is available on Planet L.A. Records. - BeatCrave Blog, February 23, 2010

"Up And Coming: Throwing Seven"

The Inland Empire is brimming with talent and Throwing Seven is no exception. This six piece is armed with a sound that recalls a late 90s aggressive post-alternative sound... - Skinnie Magazine

"Album Review: Hope Forgets to Breathe"

"It’s always great to reconnect with stuff that you like, or things that may have been forgotten in this ever changing world we live in today. I had one of those moments today when I put on the first track from LA band, Throwing Seven. Upon listening to it I was brought back to my early college days where I was big in to the alt-rock/nu-numetal scene. I use to listen to stuff from the likes of Finger Eleven, Threes Day Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Finch, Thrice, and the many others who fit that same genre all day long. There was something about the music that was powerful and always got you pumped up and/or motivated.

Throwing Seven’s debut full length album, Hope Forgets to Breathe, does just that. They produce their own unique hybrid of melody infused hard rock. They have shared stages with bands ranging from HED P.E., Protest The Hero, Unwritten Law, Kottonmouth Kings, Yesterdays Rising, Finch, as well as most of the 2008 Warped Tour bands. They have been known to put on an energetic and sonically dense live show with fantastic fans and crowd interaction.

While listening to Hope Forgets to Breathe you will be immediately notice the dense 3-guitar fueled sound that explores the various nuances and subtleties of hard melodic rock. They will transport you to a world of distorted power chords , crazy drum patterns (props to the drummer, Adam Tice, he has some skillz), emotionally compelling vocals and the pop sensibility that is needed to make it in this day and age. Drawing on influences from the post-punk era, including some of the acts I named above, the music is anthemic, energetic and raw–just overall a great listen. Some tracks to check out are “Four for Free,” “Lotus,” “Push” and “When the Lights Go Out”

If your looking for some good new rock music, then Throwing Seven is the band for you, Get this Album!

enjoY!"

Bio

Throwing Seven are six guys from L.A. who produce a unique hybrid of melody-infused hard rock. Using three guitarists: Paul Gonzalez, Ben Crandell and Eric Jacobson, they have created a harmonically dense sound to back up Jude Roldans clear and anthemic vocal melodies along with Dave Cortez (bass/vocals) and Adam Tice (percussion/vocals) providing a tight rhythm section. Their songs have elements and influences ranging from Guns N Roses, the Killers, Linkin Park, Radiohead, Thrice and A Perfect Circle all thrown into a blender.

Throwing Seven have proven their musical street credibility by playing several major showcases and festivals, including the 2008 Vans Warped Tour and 2010 SXSW Festival, and have shared stages with national acts including Finch, hed(pe) and the Kottonmouth Kings. They have headlined and regularly play at well-known Sunset Strip venues such as the Whisky A Go-Go, the Roxy and the Key Club in addition to other Southern California venues like the Glasshouse and House Of Blues, Anaheim. Their live shows are energetic and craft a sense of fervor in any audience they play to, by relying on impassioned stage presence and crowd interaction.

Throwing Sevens 2009 EP, Hope Forgets To Breathe, features emotionally compelling themes ranging from heartache to rebellion to social angst, perfectly illustrated in songs like When The Lights Go Out and Let It Bleed. The songwriting is raw, sometimes abstract and always rooted in melody, giving listeners the feeling of a knock-out punch. The band signed with indie label, Planet L.A. Records in 2009 and in 2010, with a Southwest U.S. tour already under their belts, Throwing Seven stand ready to take on the world!
