St. Clair College is pleased to announce that Chatham band The Long Lots and Toronto band Teenage Kicks will open for Theory of a Deadman on Sunday, June 3 at 7:30 pm at the Chatham Capitol Theatre.
The Long Lots
The Long Lots wanted to do something different so they started writing songs with some bluesy undertones and rock beats. Influenced by the sounds of Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Yes, Built to Spill and Band of Horses and fueled by love of cold beer, good times and good music, The Long Lots set out to create their own brand of Rockin Indie Blues music.
Their songs are about growing up in rural Chatham-Kent, working blue collar jobs, family, love and lost love. The lyrics come from the heart of Jay Amerlinck and listeners can connect with them on an emotional level. After the release of their first EP: When the Sun Goes Down, fans wanted more. The band continued writing more songs, emphasizing their dark, upbeat, and bluesy rock sound even more.
The Long hope to bring their brand of good old “Canadian Rock” to the fore front of the music business and we know that you will enjoy them on Sunday, June 3 as they take the stage in front of Theory of a Deadman.

Teenage Kicks
The band’s debut EP, Rational Anthems is a record full of unforgettable melodies leading a charge backed by stadium-sized guitars and exploding drums, with an overall tone that paints a vivid picture of nostalgic, end of summer gatherings just as easily as it could be played in a convertible on a long drive down an empty highway.
Hailing from Toronto, the quartet satisfies all aspects of the rock spectrum within the confined space of their EP’s six songs. The rousing opener, “Brooklyn Bridge,” is one long crescendo that prepares the listener for the rest of the record, starting off with the a clean guitar and the singer’s voice just above a whisper, and ending in screams, feedback and pounding rhythms. The song acts as a roll call for the band’s breadth of influences. Its gradual progression and steady build-up is in step with modern indie rock sensibilities evidenced by The Constantine’s, but the way the guitars explode with unapologetically indulgent leads at the end represents Teenage Kicks’ unabashed love for classic rock bands like The Who and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

After playing the iconic venue graced by the Rolling Stones and the Police, the Long Lots are getting their name out.The Chatham indie-blues band hit the stage at the Horseshoe earlier this month, along with Hamiltons Dark Mean. Guitarist Gary Jongbloed said they simply contacted the booking agent of the club and provide a sample of their Music. He said the history of the Horseshoe makes it a coveted location on the resume of any band. It's probably the best place to play in Canada. - Trevor Terfloth-Chatham Daily News

Bio
Brothers-in-law Jay Amerlinck and Gary Jongbloed formed The Long Lots in 2007 when they brought in their cousins Jason and Jeff ORourke. Jay and Gary had been playing together since the 90s in Indie bands before asking the brothers to start the new project.
Wanting to do something different, they started writing songs with blues undertones combined with southern and classic rock influences, emphasising on delivering the songs with power and emotion. They accomplished this while maintaining the integrity of their influences - like Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Yes, Bruce Springsteen, The Band, Built to Spill, The Arkells, and Band of Horses.
Their songs are about growing up in rural Southwestern Ontario, working blue collar jobs, family, love and the struggles of everyday life. The lyrics come from the heart of Jay Amerlinck and listeners connect with them on an emotional level.
Theyve released a full length cd and a 5 song ep,toured extensively, and have picked up fans from Detroit to Toronto. Locally the band is considered the town's pre-eminent rock band and opens for the top acts that come through their hometown of Chatham, Ontario. The Long Lots opened for the Doors in 2010, Theory of a Deadman, Arkells and Sloan in 2012, and 2013.
Made Canadian Musician Showcase and Skope Magazine's Artist to watch for 2013.
Great mix of dirty blues with a hint of southern rock sensibility

Late 2011 the band added a fifth member multi-instrumentalist Glenn Smith. Hes a veteran keyboard player, guitarist and utility man who has added an additional layer to the sound of the band.
