"2008 Artist of the Moment"

January 3, 2008

"Our first band crush of 2008 has arrived! Temposhark, hailing from London, are getting ready to release their debut, The Invisible Line, in March. They've got synth power, a killer voice, and violin parts that make The Faint shake in their boots. The Invisible Line hasn't come out of the CD player since it arrived at the High Voltage office and we're sure Temposhark's sleaze-electro-rock will soon swoon you over as well." - High Voltage Magazine

"Band to Watch 2008"

RockSellOut.com selects Temposhark as a Band To Watch on 29th December 2007.

"Temposhark play intelligent electronic music. They remind me of Depeche Mode meeting Patrick Wolf. Sure, they will appeal to the mainstream, but there is more to Temposhark than catchy tunes. Potentially a major artist of 2008!" - Rocksellout.com

Temposhark: The World Does Not Revolve Around You (single)
by The Music Critic ~ Monday, 17 August 2009 Labels: Indie, Pop
Every so often you get a cd through that just hooks you from the very first listen and this brilliant piece of indie bubblegum pop from Robert Diament, aka Temposhark, is one of those. This is quite possibly the most perfect pop song I have heard all year. It really is that good.

Diament obviously has an ear for a great tune, blending his 80's electro influences with the pop sensibilities of the classic 60's pop. The song has already made an impact in the US, being picked up by MTV.

It's one of those songs that gets you right from the start. Bouncing drums, thumping bass, stabbing piano, screaming guitars, shouty vocals and that killer chorus make it impossible to resist. As a taster for the forthcoming second album to be released early 2010, it is a mouthwatering morsel. This is going to be massive and rightly so.

"NME Praises Temposhark's Debut Album"

March 15, 2008

"Temposhark 'The Invisible Line' (Paper and Glue/Defend) What if Trent Reznor was raised on the Pet Shop Boys rather than Einsturzende Neubauten? Think these dudes. 'Blame' is Depeche Mode via The Backstreet Boys and 'Don't Mess With Me' is the feyest bit of braggadocio NME has heard in years... they could be your new favourite band."

"Remix Magazine Positively reviews Temposhark's Debut Album"

March 2008

"The UK's Temposhark may have been born of a fashionable electro scene, but its debut album, The Invisible Line, has more in common with an over-the-top musical stage production. Bursting with orchestral flourishes on opener "Don't Mess With Me," the tone is set for the über-theatrical dramatics that are the driving energy of Invisible. "Knock Me Out" consents to the group's fiery electro label — but with a screaming spectacle vibe. Watch your neck as the already huge single "Joy" is a belt-along number that requires many a head toss."

4 out of 5 stars.

"Guardian choose Temposhark as 'New Band Of The Day"

'New Band Of The Day'

"What if Kate Bush had shagged Marc Almond and spawned a monster that grew up listening to Violator? That's Temposhark, musically at any rate." - The Guardian (UK)

"Resonator Magazine Positively Reviews Temposhark's Album"

January 29th 2008.

"There's not a wasted moment, not a solitary skippable song on the whole of The Invisible Line. A lot of this is owed to the fantastic, fanatic-grade nuances overlayed by the one and only Guy Sigsworth, soundtracking vocalist Robert Diament's velvet growl with James Bond-worthy moments of swooping strings and cascading authentic piano, before Luke Busby's beatsmithing creates moments of sparse, Tech-infused throbs of pulse." - Resonator Magazine

"Temposhark's new album Threads Review"

Temposhark's new album "Threads" is making the rounds right now and I couldn't have popped it into my computer fast enough - I was that excited. Over the last six months, we've heard snappy new tracks in the way of "The World Does Not Revolve Around You", "Bye Bye Baby" and latest single "Threads" seeing the London band take a more mainstream pop approach to their music. For fans of their epic first album, the deep and hard-hitting "The Invisible Line", I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how pop Temposhark play out in the new contemporary. The band have most certainly evolved and have come to master the art of executing big pop melodies and infectious hooks. As "The Invisible Line" was more of rebellious and slightly alternative collection, "Threads" encompases a more softer side to their music - making it more commercial and somewhat more accessible for listeners who may have been reluctant to fully embrace early classic Temposhark tracks like "Joy" and "Knock Me Out".

Standout tracks on "Threads" for me (aside from the aforementioned lead singles) are "Stuck" which is even a tad RnB pop influenced, something I think lead singer Rob Diament probably wouldn't have imagined when initially setting out to write and record these new tracks. "Green Lights" is quite simply a gorgeous and uplifting tale of personal freedom and escape - it's one of those songs that is so syncable that I can definitely imagine it getting picked up for numerous TV and movie spots - many of the tracks are already being played out on various MTV reality shows. Opening track "Irresistible" is an instant catchy little number with big horns and big vocals that will make you devilishly grin. Closing number "The Last Time I Saw Matthew" is a poignant and compelling song - albeit a bit sad, but a tale of lost and tortured love.

It's hard to imagine that a band like Temposhark could actually get any better, but with "Threads" they have most certainly weaved their way into my earscape as standout pop pioneers and their poster is still firmly tacked up on my wall. It will be a long time before I stop waxing fantastic about them. What Robert Diament and producer Sean McGhee have created here is nothing short of a mini-masterpiece, one of the finest pop albums of 2010.

"The Fly review Threads"

The Fly
Album Review

Temposhark
‘Threads’
(Paper & Glue)

With this album’s personnel being almost wholly divergent from its predecessor, Temposhark are clearly becoming a modern day Scritti Politti; appropriate, that, since Rob Diament shares with Green Gartside a sugared vocal ambiguity and a vivid enthusiasm for 1982. Consequently, it’s sinful-sounding synth-pop ahoy – ‘Bye Bye Baby’ enjoys the charged crackle of Yazoo, ‘Frames’ resembles a tender early Duran, and ‘Threads’ itself wouldn’t’ve sounded out of place amid the dark majesty of Tears For Fears’ ‘The Hurting’. Moreover, the initial facade of froideur melts magnificently – ‘The Last Time I Saw Matthew’’s a triumph of poignancy, while the pronounced lust of ‘Fireworks’ comes as a very real release. It’s stylised, stylish stuff, but there’s enough substance and savvy here that you wouldn’t rule out this being Temposhark’s time...
