Bio
He is called "The One Mouth Band" for good reason. Sam makes all the sounds of a band -- bass, guitar, synthesizers, horns, mouth-defying drums/percussion, and more -- with the precision of a seasoned musician. Add a sprinkling of live-looping (recording and layering parts live on stage), and you've got 100% organic human music and fresh, accessible entertainment. A musically and visually entertaining performer, Sam makes each show interactive and memorable for the whole audience. Just one of his performances can seamlessly range from jazz to rock to funk to blues to reggae, each with instrumental imitations and musical improvisations that have astounded audiences in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia!
Forging new ground in a cappella music, Sam became the first solo a cappella act to compete against groups, winning two Ward Swingle Awards in the process for his Jazz and Pop performances at the 2003 Vokal Total International A Cappella Competition in Graz, Austria. His first solo CD "One Mouth Band" was nominated for Best Vocal Jazz Album by JPF IndieMusic Awards, and Sam’s performance and recording credits include work with artists as diverse as DJ Qbert, Joe Satriani, and Ramblin' Jack Elliot. He is currently a finalist in the 1st US Beatboxing Championships.
