Beth Cahill

Beth lives in Wakefield Quebec, a small and stunning little village on the Gatineau River. She has a life long love affair with the mandolin. This has lead her to explore other instruments that speak to the world in fifths (tenor guitar, mandola and cittern). This tonal structure, her off-the-beaten-path view of the world, and her voice are the foundations of her sound.

In performance, Beth is a storyteller weaving her love of this planet into an engaging narrative. The audience is taken on a journey - from the desert of west Texas, to an Andean mountain village, to a gas station in northern Ontario.

Along the road, Beth has been invited to appear at, among other places, : The Kerrville Folk Festival, Festival Internationale (Lafayette), Festival Memoire et Racines, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the PBS syndicated television show, The Texas Music Café and WFMT's nationally syndicated radio show, The Midnight Special, and a zillion UU church sanctuaries, house concerts, coffee houses and honky-tonks.

She has been a Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Finalist, a CBC Canada Writes semi-finalist. She has had her songs covered by the likes of Tim Grimm and Lisa Markley. She has shared the stage with some great artists including: Eliza Gilkyson, Jack Hardy, Jeff Lang and Maura O'Connell.
