They are seeking bands, DJs, singer-songwriters, divas, drag kings and queens, burlesque performers, and more for their 2010 festival. Artists will be compensated for their performances./n/nPride Toronto is seeking musicians and peformers of all kinds including bands, DJs, singer-songwriters, divas, drag kings and queens, burlesque performers and more! Pride Toronto, which draws more than 1,000,000 people, exists to celebrate the history, courage, diversity and future of Toronto's LGBTTIQQ2S* communities. Performers selected for the festival will be compensated.



Toronto's Pride Week is the third largest LGBTTIQQ2S* outdoor, free, multi-disciplinary arts festival in the world and the largest festival in Canada. It features hundreds of artists on 8 outdoor stages spread out over 22 city blocks, lots of other events throughout the city and needs over 800 people to run it!


2009's festival saw hundreds of artists participating including Kelly Rowland, Deborah Cox, The Cliks, Islands, Esthero, Gentlemen Reg, Opopo, Lioness, Jonathan Peters, Ultra Naté, Inaya Day, Cajjmere Wray, Ferron, JELO, Deko-ze, God-des & She, and Mansion.



The festival also featured a literary series entitled "Proud Voices" featuring some of the best queer writers around including Shani Mootoo, Diane Flacks, Farzana Doctor, Zoe Whittall and S. Bear Bergman. They also partnered with local favourites Cherrybomb and Big Primpin' to bring you two of the best parties around for a special Pride edition.



Their contemporary art project, "Plot, Engage, Disperse" gave people a chance to get interactive with the festival, whether it was sticking a body part in the "drag hole" to get decorated, making a moustache, silk-screening a shirt, watching a film or being part of a very messy pie eating contest.



Pride Toronto also commissioned 7 film makers to produce a short film for the festival as part of the "Video Art Is Queer" project which had a 2 week gallery exhibition at Trinity Square Video and showed on our South Stage all weekend.
