Summary
SoundClash is Harbourfront Centre's Music Award in which Toronto's hottest independent artists will showcase for $10,000. They are welcoming diverse, contemporary and cutting edge music forms that span across genres and cultures. Artists who are based in the Greater Toronto area, and whose music is innovative and demonstrates high artistic merit are encouraged to submit to this opportunity.
Eligibility:
- Artist(s) must be local, Greater Toronto Area, residents including the following regional municipalities: City of Toronto, Durham, Halton, Peel, and York
- Applicants and nominees must be completely independent with no attachment to major labels, etc.
- Artist(s) should be available to perform during the weekend of July 13-15, 2012
Artists are encouraged to have at least 3 songs as well as live performance footage in their EPK. Artists must submit via Sonicbids only, hard copy submissions will not be accepted. A shortlist will be determined by a jury and posted on the Harbourfront Centre's website. The shortlisted artists will be notified during the last week of May and will receive a performance slot at the Harbourfront Centre's SoundClash Festival during the weekend of July 13-15, 2012. The final winners receiving the award will be determined based on a combination of jury selections and public votes
Prizes:
- 1st place will receive $5,000
- 2nd place will receive $3,000
- 3rd place will receive $2,000
- Gifts in kind
About Harbourfront Centre:
Harbourfront Centre, on Torontos waterfront, is an innovative non profit cultural organization which creates events and activities of excellence that enliven, educate and entertain a diverse public.
From its beginnings as Harbourfront Corporation, a federal Crown Corporation established in 1972, Harbourfront Centre was formed on January 1, 1991 as a non- profit charitable organization with a mandate to organize and present public events and to operate a 10-acre site encompassing York Quay and John Quay (south of Queens Quay West).
