Folkey Monkey (Sep-Dec '11)

The Folkey Monkey is a showcase vehicle for acoustic singer/songwriters. Each show, host Joe Rathburn and percussionist Jeff Stasny share the stage with a different invited guest songwriter, where they trade original songs and stories for two hours straight. Also each week Joe's guest picks a favorite artist (or occasionally a topic) to whom they pay tribute throughout the evening. Selected artists receive:

• Artists will be compensated 50% of the door.


• A sound system and a sound engineer will be provided at the venue, but artists are responsible for bringing their own instruments and any additional equipment.

Since October 2005 The Folkey Monkey has been a popular and reliable source for good live folk/acoustic music presented in a listening room format. The Folkey Monkey is held at two locations in San Diego: The Sunset Temple and VISION: A Center For Spiritual Living.
