The Canadian-produced 'Indie Week Ireland' is an annual music festival that celebrates independent Irish and Canadian music and strengthens ties within and between Dublin and Toronto's local music scenes. The festival looks for the next big European band to bring to Canada. Canadian and European cultures mingle for four great nights as top Canadian bands from Indie Week Canada tour the country alongside high-calibre European acts.
This year 20 of the festival's 25 acts will be selected through Sonicbids.
As always, industry is guaranteed to be in the room. Industry professionals from fields ranging from A&R, booking, labels, legal, management, press, and production, are hired to determine which European band is the "best of the fest." The top act from every night, as decided discreetly by the judges, performs again at Indie Week's Closing Party before music industry, who determine who will be going to Toronto in the fall of 2012 for Indie Week Canada, complete with free flights and accommodation for up to 5 band members.
Additionally, artists who submit to Indie Week Ireland 2012 or Indie Week Canada 2012 by 11:59pm (EST) February 03, 2012 will be eligible to win an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III guitar with an estimated value of $1,200 USD (check out www.indieweek.com/earlybird for more info). All acts who apply by the deadline are eligible regardless of being selected to perform or not.
In three years, Indie Week brought three bands from Ireland overseas to the Canadian festival. Those three bands have all acquired Canadian management and returned to Toronto for Canadian Music Week - all as a direct result of Indie Week.
The fourth-annual festival takes place in Dublin from May 30-June 2 2012, and showcases the best in unsigned talent, both local and international.
Indie Week is a faithful Sonicbids user; 85% of their lineup is booked this way.

Now in its fourth year, Indie Week Ireland has brought many deserving Irish acts to Toronto (and vice versa), thereby providing touring opportunities, spurring media exposure, and spawning successful working relationships with managers, booking agents, and labels.

Indie week is not open to artists signed to major labels. Artists signed to indies with major distribution are however accepted.

Irish act Walter Mitty and the Realists (voted best band 2008) acquired Canadian management as a result of performing at Indie Week Canada. Their success at the festival also helped them secure a high-profile showcase at Canadian Music Week 2009.
Participating in Indie Week Canada helped Limerick-band Vesta Varro (voted best band 2007) acquire a booking agent in Germany, and helped them secure spots in Canadian Music Week and Rogers Spring Music Festival.
