Don't miss your LAST CHANCE to submit to The Australasian World Music Expo (AWME) world and roots music conference in Melbourne, Australia. They are looking for emerging, regional or national acts Australian and international acts for the conference showcase.
A minimum of three Sonicbids artists will be selected for this opportunity. Bands will be compensated $200 per member. Backline, production and marketing for the event will be provided.
Last year's event included a line-up of over 50 local and international acts (more than 300 individual artists), hosted more than 400 music industry delegates./n/nNow in its fourth year, the Australasian World Music Expo (AWME) will once again take over Melbourne's city streets for three days and nights of non-stop music from the region and beyond. With two distinct components, AWME brings together industry representatives from all over the world to talk shop and sample music from the region, while also offering punters one of the most eclectic public festival programs this country has to offer. At least 3 guaranteed slots are reserved for Sonicbids submissions.
Last year's event included a line-up of over 50 local and international acts (more than 300 individual artists), hosted more than 400 music industry delegates and was attended by over 8,000 punters - who piled into venues around Melbourne to soak up three days of foundation shaking reggae, afro-beat super groups, bass-heavy sounds, world class hip-hop outfits, traditional Papuan string bands, Indigenous dance groups and more.
AWME attracts some of the world's most prominent and influential festival bookers, talent agents, record labels and media for workshops, panel discussions and industry networking. Previous events have included representatives from Winnipeg Folk Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Roskilde, Fuji Rock Festival, Festival Mundial, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Sakifo Musik Festival, Auckland Festival, Sfinks Festival Belgium and the Cumbancha and Putamayo world music labels.
The benefits for the showcasing bands at the expo are potentially enormous. As a result of performing at AWME 2009/10, many artists scored enviable performance slots at prestigious European, North American and Asian festivals as well as touring and recording opportunities.
