Summary
The Zoo is Western Canada's heritage rock room. They have been live for an uninterrupted 49 years. The four brothers who own and have run The Zoo for the past 28 years are committed to delivering live, original music to their patrons.
The club can almost speak for itself. The Zoo is situated in a funky area of the city, close to downtown, and has a large parking facility and easy access to the TransCanada Highway. Located at The Osborne Village Inn, in the heart of the Osborne Village, the building contains guest rooms which are frequently used to house traveling acts. They also have full restaurant facilities, as well as a very busy retail beer store, and a second club on the lower level. Located in the lower level of the Osborne Village is Ozzy's, a second live music venue with a capacity of 380.
Inn.
The Zoo has a capacity of just under 400 people and we welcome Metal, Punk, Classic Rock, Hip Hop, Rap, and anything with an edge. Bands that are basically unknown in this market are given an honorarium of $50.00 per 45 minute set. Guest rooms are negotiable. Bands that are established in our market can command a higher cover charge, which reflects on their earning capabilities. Our house system is at the top of the food chain in Winnipeg and we are fortunate enough the have a sound tech that is equally committed to the plan. Normally backline is not provided, with the exception of fly-ins who are traveling light. For technical questions, we recommend bands go to our website and click onto "Equipment". They can then email questions or requests directly to our tech.
Over the years it has been our privilege to host numerous great acts such as:
The Tragically Hip, Our Lady Peace, Nickelback, 2 Live Crew, Jim Dandy & Black Oak Arkansas, Sweet, Johnny Winter (NICE MAN), Jeff Healey, Max Webster, Brian Adams, Edgar Winter, Sass Jordan, Nazareth, April Wine, Lee Aaron, Kim Simmons Savoy Brown, Downchild Blues Band, Wide Mouth Mason, The Northern Pikes, Domenic Troiano (Deep Purple / Bush), Dutch Mason Blues Band, David Wilcox, Ian Thornley, Stephen Pearcy of RATT, Sebastian Bach, Warrant, L.A.
