Bio
Chocolate. Vanilla. Two great tastes that taste great together... especially when they're making music.
What began in a middle school tech class when two Long Island boys decided they were more interested in making music than they were in learning about jigsaws [Ed. note: No offense to jigsaws] has grown up and turned into a New York movement. Now SkipTown and Hybrid have their creative sights set high, and their crazy ambition can be heard in Model-T's breakout EP, "The Assembly Line," which has already seen one of it's singles nominated for the prestigious Independent Music Award for Best Hip Hop Song of the Year.
Don't let age deceive you: though early into their twenties, Model-T is comprised of two veterans of music. SkipTown is an NYU Clive Davis School of Recorded Music graduate who specializes in singing, songwriting, and production. He has had the chance to learn from people like Mark Ronson, Jermaine Dupri, Swizz Beats, Bob Power (producer: The Roots, D'Angelo), and Nick Sansano (Producer: Public Enemy) among others. He has been praised by his teachers and utilized by his peers for his knack for skilled arrangement, rhythmic sophistication, and unique sound. Hybrid Infamous is the group's rapper and is known for his energy and confidence, and constantly proves to be a bottomless pit of personality and witty wordplay. If you ask him who his top 5 musical influences are, he'll tell you Jay-Z, The Beatles, Britney Spears, My Chemical Romance, and Madonna. Unorthadox? Of course, but variety is the spice of life. And Hybrid is one spicy dude.
Model-T is Hip Hop with an emphasis on songwriting. It's Jay-Z's flow meets Drake's enthusiasm on top of Passion Pit's wild timbral experiments. It's N.E.R.D.'s thoughtful rhythms with a healthy dash of Bob Marley's feel good sing-along attitude. It's hilarious chemistry on top of serious beats. From the anthemic pick-me-up record, "Day By Day," to bangers like "Club Nasty," Model-T has something that's guaranteed to move you.
