His father Robert would continue to introduce Kane to the old 'spoken word' country poets, to the early 'pop' country of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and the song writers like Kristofferson and Emmy Lou Harris which have had the greatest influence his song writing and the importance he places on the lyrical content. He now submerges himself in singer songwriters like Lorrie Mckenna, Walt Wilkins, Ray LaMontagne and Ryan Adams.
