ISA's BIOGRAPHY
Isabel Valencia was born in 1984, in Medellin, Colombia, in the valley between lush green mountains and the river Medellin. Pablo Escobar came to prominence when she was a young girl, and war soon broke out between the Colombian Government and the drug lords. Bombings and violence rocked Medellin in the late eighties and the economy suffered. Isa's father moved to the United States to look for work. Isa's sisters soon followed. Isa, the youngest, was left behind in Colombia with her mother. She became lonely and depressed. Her grades dropped. Her spirit faded. Then she found an old nylon string guitar beneath her bed one day. It changed her world.

Isa still has no idea where the guitar came from. After she learned her first chords and began to write songs, it became clear she had found a way to channel her sense of loneliness, isolation and abandonment into music. Rock music.

Isa's gift for songwriting was almost immediately apparent. By the time she was fourteen, she was writing the songs that the seniors at her high school performed at the closing ceremony of their graduations. The Nuns at her Catholic school, the same Nuns who only a year earlier had scolded her for losing focus in her studies - were now relying on Isabel to compose religious tunes for their Church services. Isabel formed her first band when she was only 15 years old, and she never looked back.

After high school, Isa attended The Fine Arts University of Colombia as a music major, then dropped out to move to Los Angeles when she was twenty years old. Rock music was not popular in her home country of Colombia, but her older sisters had sent her The Cure, Depeche Mode and Radiohead records from the U.S. and Isa had become obsessed with them. The music also helped her to learn English through the lyrics. Isa moved to Los Angeles, committed to starting her own group, which would blend her Rock influences with her roots in Flamenco, Salsa and Latin Jazz.

Isa is fulfilling her dream. Her band, ISA - is defiantly original, distinctively refreshing and highly unique. Odd time signatures, polyrhythmic song structures, and undeniable pop melodies combine seamlessly to form her band's unique sound. Jon Braver adds musical virtuosity to the mix as the group's lead guitarist. With a great Latin Rhythm section of Philippe and Andres, that is both smooth and powerful behind her, locking into the propulsive beats that are the cornerstone of Isa's inimitable rock pop sound.

ISA has already impressed audiences around Los Angeles at clubs such as The ROXY THEATRE, The VIPER ROOM, The WHISKY-A-GO-GO, Molly Malones, Safari Sam's and Santa Monica Pier, - The word of mouth has begun to spread.
