Hi, my name's Dutch. Great to meet you. Thanks for coming by the open house. Try one of the turkey sandies. The sun-dried tomato gives them some bite, but they're still light and won't ruin your dinner. Plus, the whole wheat bread is a complete protein.
I know you're here to check out this six bedroom remodel in Thousand Oaks, priced to move, but I'd like to ask you a question first: Do you like music? I knew you did. Who doesn't? Well when I'm not moving high-end property in the San Fernando Valley I manage the most talented group of MCs and producers on Planet Earth who just happen to have made what some have called "the rap record of the year", entitled Uzi Does It.
The group is Get Busy Committee and features names you may have heard before: Ryu (Styles of Beyond, Demigodz) and Apathy (Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs). Tracks are produced by Apathy as well as super-producer Scoop Deville, known for his work recently with Snoop Dogg, The Game, Clipse, and many others, all of whom said they would try to stop by this open house today in the mood to buy (but I don't want to pressure you, take your time). Scoop also lends his signature vocal swagger to many of the tracks on the album.
The album is being released on their very own record label, Tokyo Sex Whale Records. Ryu was once signed to Warner Brothers and Apathy to Atlantic. No offense to the A&R rep who thinks phrases like, "I think you should work on your skateboard skills" or "you should go to the gym so you can take your shirt off on stage" is career advice, but Get Busy Committee decided to eschew label interest this time around and go their own route. "We can fuck it up ourselves, thanks," they were heard to say. Uzi Does It is a 100% self-funded, self-released independent record.
While you'll definitely find this record in iTunes, Amazon, and even your local indie CD store, you'll also find it in some non-traditional places and formats. Purchasers of a beautiful True Love and False Idols t-shirt will find a code to download a copy of the record attached to their shirts and you'll be able to buy special versions of the album from GetBusyCommittee.com. One such version will be on a USB stick in the shape of an Uzi open bolt, blowback-operated submachine gun. Uzi Does It, indeed.
This record is unlike any rap album you've heard before. I'm sorry if you were expecting some of the boring two-sample verse/chorus nonsense hip hop has descended into, but you won't find that here. This album is full of songs and songwriting, heartfelt stories of life in LA, a life of music, late nights on the Sunset Strip, and coke. In short, a life similar to mine. As Apathy says in Coolin' Out, "I used to love Easy-E, BBD, BDP, so I mixed it all up what you get? GBC."
But don't take our word for it. In this day and age you certainly don't need to listen to anyone talk about music, you can check it out for yourself. Head on over to http://GetBusyCommittee.com and download a few songs for free, or purchase one of the limited edition albums which come with either a fashion-show quality True Love and False Idols t-shirt or a MINDstyle collectible mini-figure. Just think of how the mini-figure would look on the mantle here when you have your first key party. You're new to the area? Not to worry, I can bring a few friends to prime the pump, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'll let you have a look around. Please don't forget to leave your name and email on the sign in sheet.
