Skope: What were you doing when you found out you were selected for Skope
A2W April 2010?
Burnt Matches: I was just getting ready for my band to come to my house to relax together before our shows tonight and tomorrow in Santa Barbara at Sand Bar and in Santa Monica at O’Briens.
Skope: Now that the weather is nice will you be out playing live this summer & spring & where?
Burnt Matches: We will be out playing as much as we can this summer. Hopefully we will be playing out in this sick summer whether in front of a ton of Match heads.
Skope: What motivates you everyday to get up and create and work on your music?
Burnt Matches: Life motivates me. Experience’s in my life drives me and fuels’ my music.
Skope: What bands & musicians before you heavily influenced your sound?
Burnt Matches: I grew up listening mainly to 60’s music and grunge. From bands that range from Hendrix and Zeppelin to Nirvana, Sublime and Frank Sinatra.
Skope: What is coming up for you and where can readers learn more about you?
Burnt Matches: Our fans can read about us in Skope Magazine for now but we have some big stuff coming up. This month for instance Burnt Matches have been nominated for The L.A. Music Awards and will be playing a show at Whiskey A Go Go on April 29th. We also just dropped our demo ” Burnt Matches” which you can listen to and purchase in mp3 format at www.burntmatchesmusic.com. Come join our Match heads. - Burnt Matches

We have one song,"The Chase" going into an indy film called "The Grind" and the same song on rotation on the internet radio station KYHY in Burbank, CA.

This band is a compilation of musicians that have been preforming rock/reggae/experimental and indy music for 12 + years. Our sound is a melodic rock with catchy hooks and a smooth feel. Our influences are as follows in no particular order. Primus, Mute Math, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Sinatra, Sublime, Chilli Peppers and so many more.
Matt Lawrence grew up in small town New Hampshire using his singer songwriter mom's guitars to sit in his room for years teaching him self note for note by ear off his little boom box the sounds of Hendrix and Zeppelin at age 12. He recently moved to LA, CA to bring his years of music he had wrote to life with a business plan to start and succeed with a band called Burnt Matches. He got more than he bargained for with his non egotistical musicians, who's dedication sound and talent formed the soon to be known band Burnt Matches. The Burnt Matches sound is different from other bands because we are well seasoned musicians that found they're meaning to play and it shows through Burnt Matches music.
