To really appreciate Addis you must see them live. The frenetic energy of frontman Brock Ballow accentuates his heart-felt lyrics. The energy spreads on stage and overtakes the rest of the band members. The resulting effect is a musical team who wins you over with their non-stop show.
Addis began in 1995 when band members Brock, Chris, and Jerry attended high school together with former member Roddy Rasti. The band enveloped themselves in late night practices and wrote as much as possible. The band drew from influences such as The Black Crowes, Rush, Pearl Jam, and Jimi Hendrix. Addis had only played a couple of times publicly, when Scott Gaskin of Green Frog Productions discovered them. Gaskin immediately recognized their potential and arranged their first gig in 1996 at The Bengel in Baton Rouge. Addis quickly built a devout fan base and released their first album, Ravish, in October of 1997. Non-stop appearances at Baton Rouge's premier venues led to touring in the Gulf South region. Despite the success of the band, Addis disbanded so each individual member could "grow up" as some band members developed careers and others pursued higher education. The pull of performing and creating music kept calling lead singer Brock Ballow and 7 years later, Addis has come together to do it all again. The band returned with a new band member Paul Barnett on bass guitar. Their first show back was mixture of nostalgia and freshness. Addis's fans returned in the crowd as if the band never left, a true testament to affect their music has on people.
