For those of you keeping score at home, this is Ghost Beach’s third appearance on ATG (here are one and two for those of you who have not—tsk tsk), confirming their status as what our good friends over at Neon Gold Records have labeled “NYC’s next big things” and reconfirming our own recent poetic waxing sessions. Even if Ghost Beach hadn’t already been wowing electropop fans from Bushwick to Adams Morgan, the duo’s new single “Too Young” exudes the effervescent, youthful sound that is all the evidence we could ever need: with a sound as fresh as a new suit and warm from soaking up the sun on some tropical yacht party, the group also manages to embody a mature composure that isn’t showing any signs of faltering.
This week we’re lucky enough to be hosting Ghost Beach at All Things Gold 007 along with a few of our other favorites, Summer Camp and Gigamesh. If you haven’t already purchased your tickets for this (probably the same of you who missed out on our previous references—come on you guys!) you can still do so HERE. We’re too young for a lot of things—financial independence (sorry Mom and Dad), all-you-can-eat early-bird buffets (actually…?), sponge baths (#40)—but a consistent source of excellent, danceable, accessible jams and a sick U Hall party at which to enjoy them? Let’s hope that’s a phase we’ll never outgrow. - All Things Go
Ghost Beach is a newly-formed, NYC-based duo consisting of Josh Ocean and Eric “Doc” Mendelsohn, who are both formerly of the now-disbanded TV/TV. Despite the fact that they’ve only played a handful of shows, they managed to turn quite a few heads while at South by Southwest with their exceedingly fun brand of electro pop.
Exhibit A: “Faded”, which combines the catchy likability of Passion Pit with the soaring maximalism of The Big Pink. Admittedly, there’s a lot going on here, but it’s in a Phil Spector “wall-of-sound” kind of way that comes across as lush and expansive rather than overcrowded. For further proof of Ghost Beach's snowballing status as one of NYC's next big things, we're excited to premier their newest single in all its hometown glory. "Too Young" is like popping a bottle of shaken soda in the middle of a heatwave and watching it fizz, as the sticky-sweet beginning signals the start of something excellent. As the riffs grow sharper and the synths grow confident, the resilient bassline swells and stands by for moral support when the breakdown teleports you to your first heartbreak and back and lives are affirmed. Bio
Ghost Beach are the latest pop pioneers to set the internet ablaze with only a couple singles floating around and without any major label backing. The New York-based duo of Josh Ocean and Eric "Doc" Mendelsohn take their '80s influences one step further with Ghost Beach. Only a few months old, they've already perfected a retro-future aesthetic that sounds like the holy trifecta of The Police, Depeche Mode, and Daft Punk, with a little Passion Pit sprinkled on top for good measure. Josh plays the jilted lover with vocal panache as Eric's soaring synths, guitars and forever young harmonies are plucked right out of Neverland. Ghost Beach is more about a time than a place, and that time is now.

Fronted by Josh Ocean and Eric Mendelsohn, the band injects a bit of a surf pop / tropical vibe into their indie rock approach, channeling influences such as The Police, Depeche Mode and Passion Pit. Their talent hasn’t gone unnoticed — the band recently played shows with Charli XCX, Summer Camp, Gigamesh and Niki + The Dove.
