THE CRY BABIES STORY
The Cry Babies play high-energy-country-infused-rock’n’roll.
Well known and loved mostly in and around Berlin, Germany, The Cry Babies have charmed audiences from all walks of life for almost 10 years. With their raw & dirty, yet sometimes smooth & sweet mix of male and female vocals, skillful country guitar licks, energetic slap-bass style and trashy unconventional drumming, they’re just plain loveable.
Trinity Sarratt and Lloyd Clark originally started this outfit in the summer of 2003, busking through Berlin with just upright bass and acoustic guitar. It wasn’t long before the gig offers starting pouring in with requests for support slots opening for guys like Dick Dale and Slim Jim Phantom among others, which quickly led to adding lead guitar player Fearless Bob, and eventually their good old friend Wolfgang Sinhart on drums.
Besides being a kick-ass rockin band- Trinity and Lloyd are in all honesty the heart and soul of the Berlin “roots” scene, putting on their weekly event called “The Great Country Swindle” every Monday night for years on end.
The two have been hosting and showcasing local and international touring bands big and small and bringing good old fashioned rock’n’roll, country, bluegrass and bluestrash to Berlin like no one ever has nor probably ever will. In other words, this ain’t no hobby, after work jam band- this is their way of life. Their hard work and dedication is loved and respected worldwide, and their genuine love for these genres shows in their music ten fold.
With original songs about real-life situations such as “Ain’t Lovin’ My Baby Tonight”. “Hard Workin Girl” and “I Hate Bein in Love”, their songwriting and performance is honest and true, and folks like it because they can relate to it.
Through the years The Cry Babies have been the house band of Berlin’s most notorious rock’n’roll clubs such as the White Trash Fast Food Restaurant, and Bassy Cowboy Club, and performed almost every year at the infamous Roadrunners Paradise Race 61 Festival, along with tours throughout Germany, Switzerland, Holland, and Belgium, and are planning a US Tour in March 2013 from Seattle, Washington to Nashville, Tennessee.
